Matthew Sokolowski - Head Athletic Trainer
Matthew Sokolowski is entering his 20th year with the Quebec Nordiques/Colorado Avalanche organization. He was promoted to his current position in the summer of 2004.

Sokolowski, 41, joined the organization with the Halifax Citadels, AHL affiliate of the Quebec Nordiques, as head athletic trainer for the 1991-92 season. After serving as head trainer with the Nords' AHL affiliates in Halifax and

Cornwall for three years, he made the jump to the NHL level as assistant athletic trainer with the Nordiques in 1994-95 before transferring to Colorado with the club for the 1995-96 season.

A graduate of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia with a degree in Kinesiology, Sokolowski is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society (PHATS). He is also a nationally registered EMT.

Born in Katowice, Poland and raised in Chatham, New Brunswick, Matt and his wife, Beth, have three children: daughter Karly and sons Luke and Sam.

Mark Miller - Head Equipment Manager
Mark Miller is entering his eighth season as the head equipment manager of the Avalanche, his 13th year overall with the Avalanche equipment staff.

Miller, 44, joined the Avalanche as assistant equipment manager prior to the start of the 1998-99 season. He was named head equipment manager for 1999-00 and promoted to his current position prior to the 2002-03 season.

His duties with the Avalanche include the purchasing and inventory of the club's equipment needs, equipment maintenance, and the day to day management of the Avalanche practice facility in Englewood, Colo.

Prior to joining the Avalanche, Miller served as equipment manager for the St. Cloud State University ice hockey teams for 11 years. Mark also gained hockey equipment management experience with the Louisville River Frogs of the East Coast Hockey League and Nashville Ice Flyers of the Central Hockey League.

A native of Plymouth, Minn., Miller received an undergraduate degree in biology from St. Cloud State University in 1990. He was honored to serve as an equipment manager at the 1991 US Olympic Festival held at St. Cloud State. Mark is single and resides in Englewood.

Scott Woodward - Asst. Athletic Trainer
Scott Woodward is entering his seventh season as a full-time member of the Colorado Avalanche training staff.

A certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, Scott is familiar with the Avalanche organization and its players, having worked as a consultant with the team for injury management and rehabilitation dating back to the 1998-99 season. He became a regular in the Pepsi Center training room beginning in the fall of 2000, assisting the Avalanche training staff with game coverage and injury prevention and management.

Prior to his involvement with hockey, Scott served as the program coordinator with the HealthOne/Denver Broncos Sports Medicine office. He was a rehab consultant with the Broncos from 1992-2000 and assisted the training staff during training camp, practices, and game days.

Scott began his formal education at Colorado State University before graduating magna cum laude from the University of Denver in 1985 with a B.A. in Sports Sciences. He received his Masters of Science in Physical Therapy in 1990. Before working in professional sports, Scott worked in hockey with the Indianapolis Junior Ice (Junior A) squad and was as the head athletic trainer at Lakewood and Littleton High Schools.

Scott and his wife, Julie, live in Englewood with their daughter, Laura (6).

Cliff Halstead - Asst. Equipment Manager
Cliff Halstead joined the Avalanche equipment staff in a full-time role prior to the 2003-04 season. Cliff has been with the organization since Game One in 1995, serving as a stick boy for seven seasons before taking over the visiting dressing room duties for the 2002-03 season.

Halstead is responsible for assisting Mark Miller and Kurt Harvey with all the day-to-day equipment operations.

In addition to his home room responsibilities, he will continue to service the needs of the visiting club as well, coordinating transportation needs to and from Denver International Airport.

Halstead, 28, was born in Casper, Wyo., and raised in Aurora, Colo. He is a graduate of Eaglecrest High School and spent two years as an undergraduate at Aurora Community College.

Cliff and his wife, Heather, reside in Highlands Ranch.
